Service - Permanent Placement

Fill permanent roles on your payroll

We source and screen engineers for permanent positions on your team using The Grid Method™. The candidate joins your payroll and reports to you from the first day.

The client problem

Why this workforce gap exists

Permanent engineering roles carry institutional weight: the engineer will own systems, mentor junior staff, and carry knowledge long after any single project closes. A weak hire here compounds for years, not months.

Generalist recruiters and job boards produce volume, not fit. Without discipline-level evaluation, they can't distinguish a substation designer from a transmission planner, or a process engineer from a piping engineer, and the resulting mis-hires cost far more than the original search.

At the same time, permanent searches for scarce disciplines can stall for months on active-candidate sourcing alone, while the seat sits open and the work falls on an already-stretched team.

The Gridline solution

Direct Hire explained

Direct hire is a search engagement for permanent positions. We manage sourcing, technical screening, and reference checks, then hand you a shortlist of qualified engineers to interview. Once you select a candidate, they join your company's payroll and benefits directly, with no interim employment period.

This model fits roles you know will be part of your team indefinitely, such as a plant engineer, a design lead, or a controls specialist who owns systems long after the hiring project ends. Because there's no trial period, screening is more rigorous upfront, covering technical depth, work history verification, and alignment with the specific systems and codes your operation runs.

Every candidate passes through the same 14-stage Grid Method™ framework used across every Gridline engagement - discovery, role qualification, technical screening, behavioral assessment, and structured presentation - regardless of engagement type. That standard is what supports our target ≥85% offer acceptance rate.

Fees are structured around the placement itself, not ongoing payroll administration, since we're not the employer of record in this model. Our role ends once the engineer is successfully onboarded to your team, though a structured 30/60/90-day check-in continues through the guarantee period.

  • Candidate joins your team and payroll immediately
  • Full technical and background screening before you interview
  • Built for roles you're staffing for the long term
  • Target 21 business day standard from signed agreement to filled role

How we solve it

What the engagement delivers

  • Rigorous upfront screening

Because there is no trial period, every candidate is evaluated through The Grid Method™'s full 14-stage framework before you see a resume.

  • Discipline-level fit, not generalist matching

Screening validates the specific systems, codes, and certifications your operation runs, not a broad job title match.

  • Immediate payroll integration

The candidate joins your payroll and benefits directly from day one, with no interim employer-of-record step.

  • Guarantee period included

A replacement search is included if a placed hire departs or underperforms early, at no additional placement fee.

Fit assessment

Ideal use cases for this model

Use this as a decision aid before you commit a requisition to a delivery model.

  • The position is a permanent part of your organization chart
  • You need ownership continuity on systems or equipment
  • The role requires long-term institutional knowledge
  • You have internal payroll and benefits infrastructure ready
  • You've already validated the need for a dedicated headcount

Why it works

Advantages of this engagement model

  • Immediate payroll integration

The engineer becomes your employee from day one, with no transition period or conversion step needed.

  • Rigorous upfront screening

Because there's no trial period, candidates are vetted deeply on technical depth and work history before you ever see a resume.

  • Built for long-term roles

The search is run against long-term fit criteria, not just immediate project needs, which supports retention.

  • No employer-of-record complexity

You manage the employment relationship the same way you do for any other permanent hire, with no shared-employment structure.
