Industry - Oil, Gas & Petrochemical

Process Engineers Who Speak EPC From Day One

LNG export capacity is doubling and petrochemical programs are competing for the same finite pool of process engineers. We supply engineers who already speak P&ID, HAZOP, and turnaround.

Engineering work environment on a oil, gas & petrochemical project

Sector overview

Engineering staffing for oil, gas & petrochemical

U.S. LNG export capacity is doubling, and brownfield and greenfield petrochemical programs are competing for the same finite pool of process engineers. Programs in this sector run three to seven years, with workforce requirements spanning all six project phases simultaneously - from FEED through detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.

Process engineers with HAZOP facilitation and Safety Instrumented System assessment experience are in critically short supply, and that scarcity compounds when multiple concurrent programs draw from the same specialist pool. Turnaround and shutdown events add a second pressure point, requiring rapid mobilization of specialized crews on compressed, non-negotiable timelines.

Brownfield and greenfield experience are not interchangeable, and evaluation has to distinguish between them explicitly. A process engineer who has only worked greenfield FEED is not automatically prepared for a live-unit brownfield turnaround, and Gridline's Grid Method™ screening treats that distinction as a qualification gate, not a resume footnote.

Where programs stall

Talent challenges in this sector

  • HAZOP and SIL specialists in critically short supply

Process engineers with HAZOP facilitation and Safety Instrumented System assessment experience are among the scarcest disciplines in oil, gas, and petrochemical work.

  • Turnaround mobilization on compressed timelines

Turnaround and shutdown events require rapid mobilization of specialized teams on schedules with essentially no float.

  • Brownfield vs. greenfield experience is not interchangeable

Evaluation must distinguish between brownfield and greenfield project experience explicitly, since the two require different field discipline and live-unit awareness.

  • TWIC card and CFSE certification gating access

Site access and safety certification requirements, including TWIC card status and CFSE certification, can stall a start date if not verified before an offer is made.

Program types

Projects we staff

  • FEED and detailed design support

Process, piping, and mechanical engineers support front-end engineering design and detailed design packages over multi-month phase gates.

  • EPC execution across concurrent phases

Project engineers and managers coordinate procurement, construction, and commissioning scopes running in parallel across a multi-year program.

  • Turnaround and shutdown events

Commissioning and startup engineers mobilize on short notice to execute scoped turnaround work within a fixed outage window.

  • HAZOP facilitation and SIL assessment

Process engineers facilitate hazard and operability studies and safety instrumented system assessments ahead of construction release.

Disciplines

Roles we place in this sector

Every placement is screened against the discipline requirements of this environment, not a generic technical checklist.

Why teams choose us here

Our advantage in oil, gas & petrochemical

  • We speak the language

P&ID, PFD, HAZOP, FEED, EPC, EPIC, turnaround, SIL, API standards, ASME codes - our recruiters screen in the vocabulary your engineers actually use.

  • Brownfield vs. greenfield validated before submission

We verify brownfield or greenfield project history, TWIC card status, and CFSE certification before a candidate reaches your desk.

  • Rapid turnaround mobilization

Our bench includes commissioning and startup engineers ready to mobilize on the compressed timelines that turnaround events require.
