Civil, Structural & Process Engineering · Role - Structural Engineers
Structural Engineering Talent for Buildings, Bridges, and Industrial Facilities
Structural engineers size and detail the load-bearing systems that keep buildings, bridges, and industrial facilities standing under design loads. Underqualified structural hires produce designs that fail peer review or, worse, inspection.

Role overview
What structural engineers do
Structural engineers analyze and design the load-bearing systems for buildings, bridges, industrial facilities, and, in some sectors, offshore structures. Their work covers gravity, seismic, and wind load analysis, foundation design, and connection detailing, all of which must hold up under independent peer review and, eventually, code inspection.
This is one of the more credential-gated disciplines we recruit: stamped structural work requires a PE, and in many states a separate Structural Engineer (SE) license for larger or more complex structures. We verify licensure status directly rather than relying on a resume claim, and we confirm which structure types - buildings, bridges, or industrial - a candidate has actually designed, since the codes and failure modes differ across each.
Scope of work
Core responsibilities
We screen against these responsibilities directly rather than against job-title history.
- Perform gravity, seismic, and wind load analysis
- Design structural steel, concrete, and foundation systems
- Detail connections and prepare structural calculation packages
- Support structural peer review and code compliance submittals
- Evaluate existing structures for retrofit or load rating
- Coordinate structural design with civil, mechanical, and architectural teams

Grid Method™ screening
What we specifically screen for in this discipline
Calculation package walkthrough - Candidates present a structural calculation package they authored and defend the load assumptions, not a summary they memorized.
Licensure verification - We confirm PE and, where applicable, SE licensure directly with the licensing board before submission.
Structure-type match - We validate building, bridge, or industrial structure experience against the specific scope of the role.
Deployment
Projects this role supports
- Industrial facility structural design
- Bridge and overpass structural analysis
- Building seismic retrofit
- Foundation design for heavy equipment
- Structural peer review for permitting
Market reality
Why this role is hard to fill
SE licensure is a hard gate in many states
Larger or more complex structures require a Structural Engineer license beyond a standard PE, which meaningfully narrows the qualified pool.
Structure type experience does not transfer cleanly
Buildings, bridges, and industrial structures follow different codes and failure modes, so we confirm the specific structure type a candidate has designed.
Peer review readiness varies
Not every structural engineer has carried a design through independent peer review, which is a different skill than producing the initial calculation.
Our method
How we recruit structural engineers
Define structure scope
Day 1
We identify structure type, governing code, and licensure requirement before sourcing.
Technical review
Candidates walk through a load analysis or calculation package they authored.
Licensure and reference check
We verify PE/SE status with the licensing board and confirm design ownership with former supervisors.
Shortlist delivery
Days 5–10
You receive candidates matched to your structure type and licensure requirement.
